We would like to think that our society has become more open-minded, but in fact, people’s perception regarding sex is still very conservative and old-fashioned. When it comes to people who have overactive libido (or so-called sex addiction), there are always some biases, as well as negative labels, such as ‘slut’, ‘dirty bitch’ and even ‘psycho’ to demonise them. In the movie Three Husbands, the main character is addicted to sex. Even though she has three husbands, they still fail to fulfil her sexual desire. Thus, she works as a prostitute to satisfy her needs. In fact, we have several friends who have a few sex partners simultaneously. They can have sex for more than three times a day. They say that sex has become a habit and an essential part of their daily routine, as normal as breathing.
So, we decided to interview one of our common friends, Lily (20, bisexual), trying to investigate the unrevealed and deeper sides of her, as a representation of this marginalised identity. We want to constitute a more solid and well-rounded image of them, rather than anything stigmatised or negative. It was also our sincere hope to find out whether they are just trying to find ways to cope with their desire, or they truly enjoy the process of sex. Our interview with Lily explores two areas of her identity: the internal struggles, which include her personal thought and experience, and the external conflicts that are induced by the influence of the surrounding and society towards her and her interpersonal relationships.
